Mini Home Tour: Christmas Decoration on a Budget

Christmas is all around! So...is your home all ready for holidays yet? Even if investing in decorations is not a part of your plan this year, it's not a reason to deprive yourself of the joy of holiday ornaments and the smell of pinecones. Welcome to my home mini tour where I'll show you how I decorated my rental on a very low budget.

Christmas tablescape

You don't need to spend a fortune to have a festive dining table for Christmas. Instead of buying a new table runner, I used my favourite table place mats from Ikea. Black and white contrast stripes are a perfect background for any colours.

As a centrepiece, I used a box made from wooden pallets (free on Kijiji) and simply painted it with a white acrylic chalk paint. For its decoration, I used pinecones, faux greenery and ornaments from Dollarama.

I also bought these cute little Ikea lights that create more warm and cosy mood in the room.

To add a nice touch of colour, for the plates decor I used simple napkins, candle holders from Dollarama and pinecones.

Living room

Unfortunately, there is not enough space in my apartment for a Christmas tree, so I just bought this garland in Dollarama (only $2) and some ornaments to decorate TV stand and the  "Bar". Adding some Christmas lights always works great to create a holiday atmosphere.

To give that Christmas look to my favourite apothecary jar from Homesence,  I simply filled it with ornaments and pinecones. This deer is from Dollarama, but it was made from a clear plastic and looked very cheap even for Dollarama. I decided to paint it with a white chalk paint and now it looks like I found it in some antique store.

I added a few holiday posters to a gallery wall. Here is a great website where you can find lots of Christmas and other printables for free.

Bedroom

I like when the bedroom is light and calm, so I didn't want to overload it with many colours and patterns.

Do you remember feather trees in my post about Urban Barn workshop? I got so inspired that decided to do it myself. You can check this super easy tutorial. I wanted to make a few bold accents and chose a very bright blue feather for this project. I'm so happy about the final result!

The rest of the feathers I used to decorate my vanity table. I bought clear glass balls at Michael's and simply put a few feathers inside.

For the dresser decoration, I bought some candles and this adorable LED star from Ikea

Merry Christmas, and may this new year bring you joy and laughter!

Enjoy your holidays:)
